We’re very happy to welcome to amsterdam:
Ngakpa Karma Lhundup Rinpoche
Karma Lhundup Rinpoche lives with his wife, two children and many dogs in Dharamsala, India, where he presides over a small gompa. Like his father and mother, he lives the modest life of a ngakpa, providing ritual services for the local community. He has taken upon himself the task of helping those in need, be they human or animal. Rinpoche is a Nyingma ngakpa with particularly strong connections to Dudjom Tersar, Longchen Nyingtik and Jangter (Northern Treasure).
Rinpoche completed his three-year retreat, learned the craft of a ngakpa and set out on the path of Thröma Nagmo under the guidance of legendary masters, like Ngakchang Yeshe Dorje Rinpoche and Khamtrul Rinpoche. He was taught Dzogchen by His Holiness Trulshik Rinpoche. In 2000 he was officially recognised as the reincarnation of Wariktsel Thokme, a heart son of Do Khyentse, and two years later he was enthroned in Tso Pema as a lineage holder of Ösel Dzogpachenpo. In his youth, Rinpoche studied briefly at the University of the Punjab – and then worked for a while at an Indian hospital. (A more complete biography of Rinpoche can be found here.)
Being thoroughly familiar with the non-traditional Buddhist audience, Rinpoche has a very good grasp of what we are like and what we need. He has travelled extensively through Australia, the US and above all Europe, teaching Vajrayana from a Dzogchen point of view and conducting rituals and pujas. Rinpoche is fluent in English, very approachable and sports a spontaneous teaching style in which he is open and welcoming to all.
Saturday 28 june 10.30:
Senge Dongma (Skt. Siṃhamukhā) — the lion-faced dakini. In the Nyingma terma tradition, she is considered as one of the many forms of Padmasambhava, specifically a secret form of Guru Rinpoche manifested to avert spiritual obstacles and negativity. It is very special that Karma Lhundup Rinpoche will give the Senge Dogma empowerment of the Dudjom Tersar tradition in Amsterdam.
Saturday 28 june 14.30:
Dorje Lingpa (1346-1405), the third of the five sovereign terma revealers, was an emanation of King Trisong Detsen and of the great translator Vairotsana. He was born in Central Tibet. In his thirteenth year he had seven visions of Guru Rinpoche. He found his first terma behind the Jomo statue of Tara in the Tradruk temple. In his fifteenth year in a cave at the Ökar rock, when Guru Padmasambhava came to him in person and granted him empowerment, he revealed many termas. Altogether he discovered 43 great terma troves and met Guru Rinpoche, Yeshe Tsogyal, Vairotsana and other such masters on numerous occasions. Karma Lhundup Rinpoche will teach Saturday afternoon on one of these special treasure texts.
See here for a short bio of Dorje Lingpa on YouTube.
Sunday 29 june 10.30:
Chod healing practice of Tröma Nagmo provides us with an extremely powerful means to cut through the dualistic clinging of mind, the root of suffering thus revealing our inherent wisdom nature. Combined with the Changbu Gyatso ritual the possibility is openend of a deep healing of our body, mind, and spirit. It has the power to clear karmic obscuration that restrict our happiness, prosperity, health, and longevity, or that lead to misfortune and difficulties in our relationships. Karma Lhundup Rinpoche is an expert in Chöd practice. On the Sunday morning we will all have the opportunity to actively participate with him in this powerful and atmospheric ritual practice.
Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche or Dudjom Jikdral Yeshe Dorje (1904-1987) was one of Tibet’s foremost yogi’s, scholars, and meditation masters. He was recognized as the incarnation of the great visionary Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904), Considered to be the living representative of Guru Rinpoche and a master of masters, Dudjom Rinpoche was a great revealer of ‘treasures’ himself. He was the teacher of some of Karma Lhundup’s teachers. Karma Lhundup Rinpoche will share some of Dudjom Rinpoche’s very special instructions on Dzogchen meditation with us.
Sunday 29 june 14.30:
Longchenpa, also known as Longchen Rabjam (1308-1364), was one of the most brilliant teachers of the Nyingma lineage. He systematized the Nyingma teachings in his Seven Treasures and wrote extensively on Dzogchen, the highest teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. He transmitted the Longchen Nyingtik cycle of teachings and practice to Jigmé Lingpa, and it has since become one of the most widely practised of traditions.
Thigle Gyachen, The Sealed Quintessence is the innermost secret lama practice in the Longchen Nyingtik cycle. This is considered an indispensable preliminary to Dzogchen practice. On Sunday afternoon Karma Lhundup Rinpoche is giving us the rare opportunity to receive an empowerment of this very special practice.
Is this event for me?
This is a weekend of very powerful Tibetan Buddhist empowerments, practices and teachings, that are rarely given in a public setting. Although everybody is welcome, it is not necessarily suited for beginners, unless you feel a strong connection with the Vajrayana path or Karma Lhundup Rinpoche. It is therefore recommended that you are already somewhat familiar with the general prerequisites of Vajrayana teachings and practices.
